Summer Sorority Social
In Southeastern's Greek Village (behind the University Center)
The Summer Social is an open house event where potential new members and their parents are invited to come and meet with sorority women and their parents. This is a casual event and anyone interested in sorority life is invited to attend. There will be an question and answer session for parents as well as plenty of time to visit each sorority house and learn a little about that organization.

Formal Fall Recruitment
Formal recruitment takes place before the beginning of each Fall semester at Southeastern. This is a mutual selection process that consists of 5 days of informational parties where sorority women and potential new members get to know each other. Each day, a potential new member will attend a fewer number of parties, eventually resulting in receiving an invitation to become a New Member by one sorority on Bid Day.
Greek 101 / Fraternal Values
Greek 101:
You will meet your Gamma Chi and learn about the recruitment process. We will provide lunch for you on this day. You will go straight from Greek 101 to Fraternal Values, so come dressed and ready to go!
Fraternal Values:
You will attend 5 parties, one at each sorority house. The parties will focus on the general principles and values of each sorority. The members will share their sorority’s history and facts with you, as well as tell you more about financial obligations that are required.
What to Wear: Dressy casual; Sundress, skirt and nice top, nice pants, heels, wedges or nice flats

Fun with Philanthropy
You will attend a maximum of 4 parties, each at a different sorority house. You will complete a small activity at each house that contributes to that sorority’s service organization. At each house, members will tell you about their philanthropies and community service activities.
What to Wear: Casual; nice top and jeans, casual skirt, capris, flats, or sandals

Coffee Talk
You will attend a maximum of 3 parties, each at a different sorority house. At each house, you will engage in a casual conversation with some of its members. Think of it as having coffee with a friend! This is a great opportunity to ask any questions you have about sisterhood activities, campus leadership, or academic achievements.
What to Wear: Dressy Casual: Nice jeans and top, casual dress, skirt, nice pants, capris, heels, wedges, or flats

Preference
You will attend a maximum of 2 parties, each at a different sorority house. At each sorority house, its members will perform a special ceremony with you. You will get a peek at what their sisterhood is really about. Expect to have a special one-on-one conversation with at least one member.
What to Wear: Sunday Dress; nice dress, heels, nice pants or skirt and top, wedges, nice flats

Bid Day
You will receive an invitation to join, or “Bid”, one of the two sororities whose party you attended on Preference day. After everyone has received their Bids, we will attend a celebration in Greek Village. You will have plenty of time to celebrate and get to know your new sisters!
What to Wear: Very Casual; shorts, Recruitment T-shirt, flip flips, comfortable shoes
Questions to ask sorority members at recruitment:
Here are a few questions you may want to ask at some of the parties during Recruitment week. So, when someone asks you: “Do you have any questions?” You will!
• What are the extra costs besides dues?
• How soon after joining will I be initiated?
• What types of activities do members do?
• How much time do New Member activities require?
• Do I have to maintain certain grades to remain in the sorority?
• Is there a certain number of study hours required each week?
• Are there any scholarships offered in your sorority?
• If I have to work when a sorority function is going on, will I get in trouble for missing it?
• Can I hold an office as a new member?
• How many meetings do I have to attend each week?
• How do members balance their academics, work and sorority activities?
• Why did you join this sorority?
